Each summer, we host a week-long humane education camp for kids in Cape Girardeau that’s all about learning, compassion, and fun. Designed for children who love animals, our camp includes hands-on activities, games, shelter tours, and lessons on pet care and kindness. It’s the perfect way for young animal lovers to get involved, build empathy, and discover how they can make a difference in the lives of pets across Southeast Missouri.
What to Expect from Our Summer Camp
Our humane education summer camp takes place at our Cape Girardeau facility and runs for several days each summer. Campers take part in hands-on lessons about animal care, responsible pet ownership, and shelter operations. Activities include crafts, games, guest speakers, and even supervised time with animals in our care. Each session is staffed by experienced educators and shelter staff, creating a safe and fun environment where kids ages 7–12 can learn and grow.
