Adoption Information
 
If you would like to add a  new furry family member to your household, the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri is the place for you.
We recommend that you bring your household members and visit with the pets we currently have.  This is the best way to match the right pet with the right owner.  A person must be 21 or over to adopt.

Adoption Fees

Our adoption fees are in place to help us cover the costs
of caring for over 5000 animals yearly.



After adoption, all medical treatment and expenses are the responsibility of the new owner.  Home Again 30 day insurance begins midnight of the day you register your pet.
( 30 day trial period is $5.00 )

The Home Again Pet Insurance may be extended.
Dogs

These fees include your pets first vaccination, deworming,  Home Again microchip, Home Again ID card, 30 days of free pet health insurance and wellness exam. (homeagain requires a $5.00 registration fee)

Under 4 months$40.00
Deposit           $30.00

NOTE: Deposit is refunded if pet has been spayed or neutered during approved time.

Over 4 months (unaltered)      $55.00

Previously altered          $70.00

These fees include your pets first

How does it work?

Once you have adopted your new pet, if he/she is old enough they are scheduled for spay/neuter, and taken to surgery by the shelter. Puppies, kittens and pre-alted pets  can go home the day of adoption.

When your pet has undergone spay/neuter surgery, you will be called to pick up him/her from the veterinarian.

You new pet should have a wellness exam to ascertain it's overall health, within two weeks of adoption.


This exam is FREE but does not cover any medication or treatment that may be prescribed by your vet. 
You may request a refund of your deposit if your pet was spayed or neutered within the
specified  time.
After receiving  proof of pets surgery, refund checks will be mailed within 2 weeks. .
